Unicornate Uterus!
I have what’s known as a unicornate uterus - it is half a uterus. I was born with only the left side of my uterus meaning I have two ovaries, but only one Fallopian tube and my uterus is half the size of a regular womb. Carrying a twin pregnancy would be very dangerous for me - I’m carrying one baby.
After 2.5 years of trying with no success, we thankfully got pregnant from our first IVF transfer! With unicornate uteruses also having higher risk of miscarriage, incompetent cervix and much higher risk for preterm labour - I can’t believe at 35w and 3d that I’m still pregnant! 😱
I never thought I’d be capable of carrying a pregnancy this far.
I’ve been seeing my OB roughly every 2 weeks and by the grace of God, no complications so far other than a SCH at 10weeks that was resolved by 20 weeks.
I keep setting myself new goal posts. First I prayed to get past 12 weeks, then 24, 30, then 34. Now I’m hoping to get to 37 weeks to deliver this angel at full-term! 🙏🏼
I just wanted to share because I’m SO grateful to be pregnant and be a part of this July 2020 group. If you were to tell me 3+ years ago that I’d be here, I would never believe it. Anyone else have a unicornate uterus or similar story? 😊
