Want to TTC #2 but still nursing and still no period!

My son is 16 mo and I am starting to really want another baby. I’m really interested to hear other people’s stories of what they’ve done. A few things- we did IUI to conceive our son. I’m hopeful we can conceive our second easier because I’ve heard from a few people that they struggled with their first and got pregnant easily with their second. I know it could still be a struggle but I can hope! Also I’m still nursing (in the process of weaning, we’re down to just twice a day now) but I STILL have not had a period!! Has anyone weaned and had their period come back soon after??
