Why the CPS visit?

Question

So I have a roommate who just gave birth yesterday. Her husband just told me that CPS was coming to check the house. Why would CPS be doing this? The house is always clean so I’m not really worried about anything but I’m just curious why they would be coming, 
I gave birth 3 months ago and no one came to “inspect”
She’s 22 and second time parent.

I guess it was because she tested positive for Marijuana. 
The baby is fine and healthy.

Because either someone called CPS to complain about their parenting or the hospital had a reason to call CPS. They don’t just come for no reason

The mom or baby or both most likely had drugs in their system and the hospital reported them CPS doesn’t just come inspect people’s homes when they give birth they had to of done something to warrant an in home visit

Did she or the baby test positive for drugs any time during the pregnancy? If so CPS will usually follow up after birth because of that.

They usually only do this when you test positive for drugs or trey to leave the hospital without a car seat

Even here in Cali where weed id legal rec and medically if mom ir baby test positive at birth CPS will follow in with a vist. Currently trying to quit but nauesa is extreme. So idk what imma do.

Someone had to have made a report. It may have been a doctor or the hospital if at any point during the pregnancy or after the birth there were concerns about possible drug use, violence in the home, or concerns about the person’s ability to parent. Otherwise it could have been a friend, family member, work colleague or acquaintance making a report because they told CPS they had concerns. The majority of people have legitimate concerns but it’s not unheard of for people to make reports to CPS out of ‘revenge’. CPS have to take all reports seriously.

She has a case open against her. It’s hard to say what for without knowing her situation. Either someone at the hospital or someone who knows her has hotlined her. They don’t usually want to inspect the house for allegations of drug use, so if they said they want to do a walkthrough, someone must have reported unfit living conditions.
