Is your 2.5 year old still napping?

Question

Not sure if we are trying to force a nap, she will nap 1-3 sometimes, but other days just sits up there talking for a couple hours. At what point do we cut out naps?

Most days my son will nap from 12-2 everyday, but every once in a while he just won’t fall asleep. I keep him in his crib and he has quiet time on those days no later that 2:30. That way if he does end up falling asleep it doesn’t interfere with his bedtime. I’ll encourage him to sleep, but if he doesn’t as long as he has quiet time to recharge he isn’t a total monster for the rest of the day.

she was napping every day and at same
time in school... from 1-3
then covid. then she was home with us.
That started shifting to her fighting naps. 
so, we now allow her to watch a show while laying down- same time at home everyday 
We set a “light” for her to know when it’s “rest” time and when it’s time to get up... (hatch device) 
She sleeps 3-4 days a week... otherwise she relaxes and rests. 
It works and she’s totally agreeable now.

My son still naps everyday, normally from 1-3ish.  A lot of my friends kids stopped napping when they turned 3, so I’m kind of thinking that’s when he will too. My son needs the nap still, the couple times we’ve skipped it he was really whiny and just seemed really tired the rest of the day.

I’m not sure when we cut them out, but my daughter’s daycare still does naps. They call it “quiet time” from 12:30-2:30pm, the kiddos aren’t pressured into falling asleep they just have to lay down on their cot with the lights low and soft music playing but do not have to go to sleep. Almost all of them do sleep though lol, so on the weekends I keep her same schedule from “school”. Same meal/snack times and nap time etc. I also kept this up during the lockdowns when she was home for basically 2 months.  When she doesn’t have that 12:30-2:30 nap or quiet time as I call it now, she is a monster!!
