HELP!!! TMI Pictures of my Teeth!
Warning! LONG POST
So let me just start by saying I never had ANY dental care(besides a tooth brush, toothpaste, you get it) until I was 18. I am 21 now.
My mother was never good at telling us to brush or floss, she get on us about it maybe once a week or even less.
She had insurance when I was a kid. I'm not sure if it was just on her and my younger brother, but both her and my brother went to the dentist every six months, like you're supposed to, right?!
However, she never once took me to the dentist. Not even for a routine cleaning. I didn't go until I was nearly 18. I was excited to go. I was crazy, excited to go to the DENTIST?!
The dentist I saw that cleaned my teeth said that I had 9 cavities, if I remember right. That was about 4 years ago.
A couple months ago I asked my mother why she never took me to the dentist the first 18 years of my life, but instead she would take my brother. She said that "Your teeth weren't rotting out your head like his were!" How can she say that mine weren't if she never took me to the dentist to find out?!
I've had one other cleaning since the first one, provided by my mothers insurance before she kicked me off at 18. I don't blame her for that but I could be on it until I'm 24... Ive even told her I would help make up any more money she would have to spend if her insurance went up because of me. She refused, no biggie.
Because I made a certain amount, I was able to get free health insurance. So I got a free root canal! However, they put a temporary filling in it and it cracked eating pretzels within a month of me having it. 😂🤷
I was okay with that because the moment it cracked into pieces in my mouth, I was actually on a plane shipping out to Basic Combat Training for the Army. So I got another free temporary filling there within a week of me arriving! Yay! They told me to get a permanent filling or/and crown(same thing? Idk!)when I would go to AIT four months after that.
I never went to AIT because I was injured in BCT and discharged.
At The job I got after being discharged (and the one I still currently have), I make too much to qualify for Medi-Cal anymore, therefore no more free health insurance, dental or other. I still have that temporary filling in my mouth that I got at BCT, it's been nearly two years. The filing has started to crack and chip and so has the tooth that has it.
I have constant tooth pain and gum pain every day. I've managed to somehow adapt to it and ignore it. I've gotten a lot better about brushing and flossing, mouth wash, etc. I got myself an electric toothbrush. Several of my teeth/gums while flossing will still bleed profusely, as well as several teeth have a very bad smell when flossing and feel and TASTE weird when flossing. I think at the very least I have Gingivitis.
Like I will spit out a couple mouthfuls of spit tinged with blood.
My gums on my front top and bottom teeth have started to recede. My teeth are SO sensitive sometimes I have trouble drinking WATER! I've noticed with only a couple teeth, if I wiggle them, they give a little. Not loose exactly, but not what they should be either....
I am asking for advice or any helpful information before I go to the dentist this Friday. Are any of you ladies or men dentists or have knowledge in the field?? I know the pictures might not really help but it's the best I can do. I was not able to afford any dental insurance or even payment plans until recently
My fiance is in the Army and with our combined incomes we can easily afford a parent plan with no insurance. He thinks it was wrong of mother to never have my teeth even looked at no matter how much I asked until I was nearly leaving the nest.
Also my wisdom teeth still haven't fully come in. Half of a bottom one had poked thru after 5+ years of pain from them pushing.
I KNOW it's going to be a LOT of work and
expensive!!! Not including braces.
Any personal experiences with how expensive your treatment was and how your teeth are no with treatment? Braces are purely for my gap that I have, my teeth are mostly straight. I just have a spacing issue.
TMI SORRY FOR GROSS PICTURES OF MY TEETH! IM DESPERATE!

Again so sorry!
