I know nobody loves my son like I do, but I don't want to be a toxic weight on his shoulders like my mother is to me.  I am trying so hard to fix the damage my childhood did but I'm so scared I'm going to mess him up.

Please seek therapy or a counselor to talk about these feelings you are having. If you come to the point of wanting to take an action because of these thoughts, please check yourself in to your nearest hospital for psychiatric care and medicine.
PPD is very common, and there is no shame in needing help, either from the appropriate people or medicine.
