My in-laws are horrible.. every time they come visit I have to ask them EVERY TIME to wash their hands before touching the baby and they get offended. First of all I’m half Mexican but don’t speak Spanish at all or know it, well they all speak English perfectly fine but when they come to my apartment they speak Spanish the whole time and the only thing they say to me is Hey. While I was pregnant they told me “it’d be in my best interest to learn Spanish so I can communicate with them”. When they speak English perfectly fine??

We don’t visit that much anymore because I tell my husband that they’re rude to me, that they act like I’m not there and I feel uncomfortable. So they complain to us all the time that they never see the baby. I told them months ago and again just yesterday that they can come visit at my apartment anytime to see the baby, even while my husband is at work because it’s easier than me hauling everything over there and the answer I get from his dad is “Ehh that’s your and the baby’s time at home, it’d be kind of awkward. Just tell me when y’all are coming over again.”. I don’t understand!! I’m so nice to them, I said “you guys could see the baby 3 times a week if y’all just come visit us at home” but they won’t visit while my husband is gone. It really hurts me that they’re so rude, I’ve told my husband several times but he won’t say anything to them about how I feel, and I’m sure he’ll get mad if I say something. It just hurts me that we can go over there for 2-3 hours and they can pass my baby around but pretend like I’m not there the whole time.

And another thing, since COVID I asked that his dad not hold him cause he works in an office with others, just for us to distance. We went over there to visit with his mom and sisters, his dad came in from work came in the living room and he picked the baby right up, did not change shirts, wash his hands or shower.. and my husband had to tell him to put him down and they all got mad. They do not respect anything I say. Who else has trouble with their in-laws?

It’s like they hate me for no reason..

my baby even has severe eczema so my family doesn’t wear strong perfumes when holding him because that’s what I ask of them but when we visit his family we told them not to put him up to their face or to wear strong perfumes when holding him because his face breaks out so bad and they don’t listen his dad literally holds him up to his face the whole time, his little cheeks break out and get super red every time and when we come home you can literally smell the perfume/colones on his face. :(

Am I overacting? Am I too protective over my baby?
