At what age did you put your baby in a toddler bed?

So my daughter is 18 months old. She has been sleeping in her crib but she keeps getting her legs stuck in between the slats of the crib, even with a mesh crib liner on which is supposed to prevent that. It will wake her up from a nap and she will start crying because it hurts. Is she too young to switch over to a toddler size bed? One that sits real low to the ground and has a safer railing to prevent falling out?

At that age my twins were in a regular bed. I had a twin mattress I put on the floor because they knew how to climb out their crib. 
It was the safest option. They slept like that for about a year and a half until I put the frame on a full size bed that they shared for awhile. (They slept in the same bed until almost 5 years old.

I transferred my son at 16 months to a queen size bed. He’s done wonderfully with it. I have it pushed up against the wall with bed rails at the end and sides. He fell out once but because he was trying to get his blanket that he threw off. I’d say go for it and try it. You’d be surprised how well they adapt to change.

It’s been different with each kiddo. Usually when they start trying to climb out of the crib I say it’s toddler bed time.

At 18 months you can put full out bumpers in the crib to prevent her legs getting in between the slats. Shes old enough and mobile enough that the bumpers wouldnt be a hazard.

My little one was 18 months when we turned her cot (crib) into a toddler bed with a safety rail. She handled it pretty well

At 18months with a tail and he adapted to it right away, he got out a few times but that’s because it’s new and he now actually can do that but after a week of getting out once or twice a night he stopped and every morning or the middle of the night if he had a bad dream he would get out himself and come straight into our room. You can always try it and if bubs doesn’t like it then you can switch back to a cot
