7 month old sleep

Hayleigh

Ok ladies, I need help. From 2 months on my son has always slept through the night. Anywhere from 10-12 hours. It’s never mattered what kind of wake times or how long his naps are during the day. Towards the end of May he started waking up about an hour or two before he would normally get up. So, feed and back to sleep. May 31st and June 1st he had his first and second tooth pop in. June 5th he had a surgery. After that he started to just wake up whenever throughout the night. Last week, he slept 3 nights in a row, without waking. So I thought we were going back to normal. Then he started it back up. 2 nights ago, he woke up 3 hours after I put him to bed due to what I think is because I moved him. However he slept an additional 10 hours after he woke up. So went to bed 8:30, woke 11:30, then slept till 9. So, that makes me think he is waking up to eat (instead of being uncomfortable, teething pain, regression, BUT I could be wrong) since I woke him up and fed him and he didn’t wake back up till morning. And has created a bad habit. I have tried everything to see if he would sleep through. Orajel before bed, bigger bottle before bed, longer wake windows, purées closer to bed, none at all, etc but it’s not working. When he wakes up, it’s almost like he is still asleep as most of the time his eyes don’t even open. I’ll get him fed, rock him, and he will go back to sleep. Normally till morning, sometimes will wake one more time about an hour or two before he would normally wake up. Just depends on when he wakes overnight. I’ve also noticed he’s started sleeping on his side more and seems to be a little more restless than normal when I go to check on him periodically.

Anyway, what do you ladies think? He’s created a bad habit of needing a bottle overnight? Regression? Still teething? What else can I do? I’m not against sleep training but want to look at other options first as my son has a problem of choking on his spit even before he’s crying so, not sure how that would go and would need to speak with doctor first. At 7 months old, I don’t want to create a habit, and that’s why Im asking for your guys help.
