Dental cleanings and COVID?

Dental cleanings are normally an important aspect of health and upkeep, pregnant or not. But, with COVID I’m a little weary. It’s not like you can wear a mask while they’re in your mouth!

I asked my midwife and she said I should go for my cleaning anyway. I don’t have any toothaches or anything emergent.

I’m wondering if you’ve had similar conversations with your OB/midwife and what they had to say?

My dentist lists the precautions they’re taking. I trust them a bit, but they are a business that was closed for 2 months and they need revenue. I get why the dentist is pushing for me to come in: revenue for them and health benefits for me. I’m still feeling nervous. Plus, they won’t have N95 masks. Just a regular one.

What’s your doctor saying?
