Can baby monitors be hacked?

Probably a stupid question to most of you. My son has been co sleeping with us and he is starting to get a bit big and kicking and crawling throughout the night (he is 8 months) so we are considering putting him to sleep in his nursery (crib) from now on which is like 10 feet away from our room, lol... (paranoid mom.) we have the owlet monitor, sock, & cam.. but have never set up the cam since he never sleeps in there anyway. But if we do decide to have him sleep in the nursery we would obviously set it up. ANYWAY!!! Is it true people can hack your baby monitor and watch your baby? Is anyone else freaked out about that?
