Makeup artist wants me to bring my own makeup?

Makeup artist for my wedding has asked me to bring my own foundation and blusher for her to use when doing my makeup? I think that’s weird considering that I am paying full price, I expect her to use her products. Is this normal for them to request this?

Hi!  I was a makeup artist for Lancome.  I would always do trials prior to the wedding.  This made sure I had the right shade and you didn’t have a reaction to products I was using.  If we were unable to meet prior I would ask you bring your own specifically to make sure you didn’t react badly to the product.  
As an example if I use Estée Lauder bronzer I break out in hives immediately

Is it due to us being in a pandemic? I can’t think of any other reason. If it’s such a concern too though, why didn’t you just directly ask her?

That’s weird. Typically a makeup artist provides their own products. If she was worried about picking the right foundation color, she should know what color to use on you anyway if she’s a good makeup artist. Plus half the women in the world aren’t using the correct shade anyway. She also should have offered a trial for your makeup, so then she would know exactly what to bring for the actual day. If you’re using your own makeup, you may as well do it yourself or pay like half the price just for her service. Full price should include her doing the actual service as well as products.

friend works for a makeup artist company they have a lot of new rules.they  don't want to take the chance that if they use their makeup on someone that person may have covid-19 it could spread to the next person to put the makeup on.   they're doing it to protect every person they can by having them bring their own makeup.

I’ve worked at Sephora and a lot of mua would ask people to bring their own foundation so they could ensure that it matches your skin tone. There is so many finishes/undertones unless they have a huge pro grade selection they may have a hard time matching your skin.

Everyone I know who has used pro make up people have been asked to bring their own foundation to ensure no reactions, right color, and that they are using a foundation that works with that persons skin. You are paying them but if they used a foundation that creased on you or just didn't work with your skin and your make up looked bad because of it you would be unhappy also.

And she did not mention  covid? Where I live they are not allowed to use their own shop make up, cause you cannot sanitize it. I've also been told to bring my own, or I can make a deal and buy it with them.

It could be COVID related or the fact that you already matched your foundation to your skin so she doesn’t have to worry about not having the right shade
