Father son project ideas? i messed up.

So my son really wanted to build a lemonade stand so i asked my sisters husband if he can build one for him(he works woth wood wnd stuff and is great at that type of things) so i talked to my husband about it, i had no clue he wanted to build one with his son.. he said it would have been a great bonding opportunity and a memory for his son to have with him.. once i told him not to build it, i changed my mind, he had already had it almost built.. so now all my husband gets to do is paint it with our son.. he hopes to find soemthing else they could do together like a project or something that will mean a lot to our son to do with him...

You made a mistake. It happens, we all do it and are human. I would Apologize to your husband and let him know you understand his feelings. There will be a lifetime of special projects for them to do together. Just learn from this mistake and make sure no matter his skill set at something, your husband is the first choice for these projects and moments. Leave it up to him if he wants help or if he and your son want to learn it together. Don't be to hard on yourself.

I’m not sure what they could do together, but it’s sometimes the little things kids remember! It doesn’t have to necessarily be a huge project... do you have a garden? In my friends garden, they made a sand pit themselves, a climbing frame, a tree house and all sorts of stuff like that...

It really isn’t that big of a deal in my opinion. 
If your brother in law is a good craftsman, I can’t say I’d have done anything different. They’re still getting to paint it together. There are tons of other things they can do that will bond them. Don’t beat yourself up over this.

If your husband isn’t handy it probably would have just cause a ton of frustration tbh to build it maybe it’s best that only the painting is left

What about a toy chest or a set of toy wooden toy bins? They could build one for his toys or maybe dads tools and paint it together? That way it’s something that would always be in the house and they could see every day. And a fun useful thing for your son! 
Kind of random but it’s the first thing I thought of that could be built semi easily.

You really messed up and unfortunately there isnt a way to make it up to him. Its kinda just a spur of the moment random thing the kid wants to do and does with his dad. You cant replace that or change it or fix it. Whats done is done just know better for next time the kid wants to do something like that

I think you did the best you could in this situation. It’s important for your husband to introduce your son to the things that he’s passionate about. Trying to build this lemonade stand could’ve led to a lot of frustration if he doesn’t typically do that sort of thing. I think the projects your husband and son do together will be much more memorable when it’s on something that your husband finds truly wonderful and can share that passion with your son.

Totally get why you asked your brother in law. If your husband isn’t super handy he should understand too. Maybe they can build a bird house together or something? Then your son could paint it?
