Consistent bedtime?

Question

How can I set a bedtime for my baby if her days are all over the place? She goes to sleep somewhere between 9 and 11 but I’d like to shorten the window so it’s a little more consistent. Any ideas?

Start putting her to bed at the same time every day. I also get mine up at the same time every day. Helps get a schedule going

The first month of being home I was terrified my baby was going to die if somebody wasnt with him at all times. My SO would stay up watching movies and and playing video games so the baby didn't have a consistent schedule. Looking back that schedule was very hard on all of us-especially since I was still getting up to feed and pump. The week before he went back to work I had to really work on being ok with the baby not having somebody to be awake with him.
The first night was a struggle. I gave him a bottle and rocked him to sleep. I laid him down and just watched him. He woke up right away and hated it. The night pretty much went like that. The second night I opened up a present we had gotten that was a sound machine with a little projector type thing on it. It switched between three little pictures of barn animals. He immediately was mesmerized by the stars we had on the ceiling and the projector picture show. He calmed down and watched it until he fell asleep. Now we always know when it's bedtime. At 7:30 we make his bottle and if he doesn't have it he lets us know. I rock him and burp him. A little before 8 I put him in his bed with the sound machine and picture show and between 8-8:15 he is out. He still wakes up a time or two during the night and is up by 6:30.

Here is my routine. About 8:30 pm I feed him 4-6 ounces and I rock him in a chair while I do so. I also cuddle him up in a blanket. Before I feed him I also have him changed and in his jammies. This makes him sleepy and cozy. Then he usually falls asleep in the rocker while feeding, I keep rocking him a bit until he is in a deeper sleep. I keep all the lights low but watch tv. Then when I think he’s ready I walk him to his crib and lay him in there. When I lay him in there I kinda keep my hand under his head until he gets comfy. I make sure he’s tucked in appropriately and then leave the room with the monitor. I usually keep the door slightly open because I think some distant sound keeps him sleeping lol. By the time he’s in there it’s usually about 9:30. Sometimes we start the process around 9 and it’s 10 when he’s in his crib .
