When to start pumping ?

I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I have been EBF. Breastfeeding has been going well but I have a few upcoming appointments which will require my husband to feed my baby while I’m gone.
I wanted to know when is it ok to start pumping? I was told to wait 6 weeks but not sure why 🤔

It’s suggested to wait a month before pumping so ur supply is somewhat established and u don’t cause overproduction which can lead to other issues. If u aren’t going to do it multiple times a day everyday then its probly fine now

Reason why no pumping before 6wks is cause your supply is very high within those first few weeks and baby needs to regulate it. Pulling on top of nursing before regulation can easily push your body into over supply. You don’t want that, it causes too many problems. It makes your body think you have twins and need to produce for them, but actually you only have one. 
I would wait a couple more wks. Let baby regulate your supply.

I am also EBF and 3 weeks pp. I just started pumping, but literally only 1-2 times a day while the baby is taking a long nap so there is enough for one bottle by the evening. 
They tell you to wait so that you don’t trick your body into over producing, but my pediatrician said I could start if I wanted to...

You could probably start now but just don't pump every two hours and nurse or you'll risk have a over supply lol
