Ovulation day changed

So I’ve been tracking my BBT and it was showing I was ovulating on the 21 and would start on the 4th but then one day my bbt spiked and it said I ovulated then and moved my ovulation day. I didn’t even notice it until a week later. Is this a common thing? I was planning on taking a test before I went out of town (on the 2nd) but now it seems like my period won’t start until the 9th so it would be too early for a test.
