My boyfriend and i want to have sex, we’re both ready for it but i just want to know what i should avoid while doing it for the first time. what can i do to make it more pleasurable and special for the both of us?

Your first time no matter what is going to hurt so get a water based lubrication. When you feel the time is right start by some kissing and cuddling. I'm not sure how much yall have done leading up to sex. But I can help on that. If all else fails thats ok. You've got time.

This might sound awful, but din't have any expectations, and don't plan things too much cause it won't work out the way you intended too.
Just make sure you are alone, in a safe place where you feel comfortable, use PROTECTION, if necessary buy it yourself just make sure you have it, and I'd get some lube. 
It sounds like you are going to do good, specially if you are talking about it openly. 
Don't stress, most first times suck, just make the best of it, and try to stay as relax and comfortable as you can, make sure you are both making everything you can to make the other one feel safe, and if anything goes wrong (something dumb like not being able to put it in) just laugh it off and try again.
* Also: fool around for a bit prior to the penetration, that'll make things ten times easier and more fun
