Forever home?

Help! My husband and I are currently looking at homes to buy. Most stressful thing EVER! We’re being told not to be too picky because it won’t be our forever home. How this process is going we don’t ever want to even imagine selling our home and buying again. Help ease my mind. Which was/is the case for you and your family. 
No children btw but ttc 😊

I’m on my third home at 42. I think it’s pretty sound advice that your first home isn’t your forever home. People need bigger homes for bigger families, job move location, divorce, etc.

When my husband and I were looking for a home we were looking for a forever home in our budget. We knew we wouldn’t probably stay forever but we wanted to be happy with where we were. We did end up moving to a different home 2 years after. The home buying process is such a pain, especially finding one you both like!

I bought my block in 2012, finished building in 2018, it’s a great house and I’ve learnt what I need & don’t need. The first house you buy/build you learn what works for you and what doesn’t, it took so long because I did it on my own. My partner & I now plan to sell up everything and travel around Australia for a year in a Ute in 2021. When we come back we will buy an acreage, start TTC and live in 3 shipping containers (tiny house) off grid for a few years. After we have saved and put enough equity on the loan (a couple years)we will build our forever home (also off grid) on our acreage.

We bought our first and current home at 26 and 28. Typically, a first or starter home is smaller because it’s more affordable that way for first time buyers. That’s why everyone is quick to say “it won’t be forever”. They expect that one day you’ll need more room to accommodate for more people living in the home. 
We were lucky enough to buy a dream home with the extra room already here for when we’re ready to add to our family. 
We also might not stay forever because my fiancé works with the government and it’s possible that his agency will need to relocate us in the future, but we treat this place as our forever because it is what we wanted ❤️

We bought our first home last March & we plan on selling in 2yrs (so we would live here a total of 3yrs.) I do open enrollment & in 2 years my oldest will be on a different time schedule from my youngest & I'm not doing 2 trips back & forth again. We owned a trailer in a trailer park & moved to the city to a home we could afford, but we want to live forever in the country so we bought a house for now & will sell in 2years, work on our credit a little more to get a house with land & stay there forever!

Currently trying to sell my first home. We were put in a situation where we absolutely had to buy and I settled and wish I hadn’t. I will be so incredibly on my next house my realtor will hate me and I don’t care. A house is a huge purchase. My opinion, be picky!!

In my husband's field of work, you pretty much work there until you retire. So we have no intentions of moving again. Not until after that, at least. We may downsize when we retire. Or we may keep the bigger house so we have plenty of room for the possible grandkids. We live in a great neighborhood, in an amazing school district, and have a lovely home. So we're good for a while

We bought our first home KNOWING we planned to move again some day. We told ourself 5-7 years. We are on year 5 in our home and just sold it, we are now building and don’t plan to move again.
