Herniated disc after epidural
Has this happened to anyone else? With my first pregnancy 3 years ago, a medical student was inserting the catheter for the epidural and after she put it in realized it was defective and had to take it out and redo it. Second epidural was threaded wrong, I felt the line go to the right and down, third epidural went in fine but she did something wrong bc hours later I was still feeling everything and they had to bring a senior anesthesiologist to fix it. I would get pain occasionally in that area every now and then like sciatic pain that would last a few days but nothing debilitating. After my second pregnancy last summer (epidural was successful immediately) I started getting debilitating pain. Lasts weeks sometimes. Sometimes it feels like very bad sciatica. Walking is manageable but bending or trying to get up from sitting or getting out of bed is excruciating. When I don’t have an episode I sometimes feel a tingling sensation/pressure all the way up my back on the either side of my spine. I finally decided to go to the doctor today and he told me most likely I have a herniated disc that’s never going to go away. He’s sending me for an mri and possibly physical therapy depending on the results. It worries me very much that he said this is never going to go away. I’m only 34 and want to have more children but I don’t see how if the pain gets worse with each pregnancy.
