Clitoral Hood

Last Thursday what I thought was my clit began to itch. I noticed if I had any cottage cheese discharge or pain when peeing, but I’ve had none of that. Only itching, swelling and redness on the clitoral hood. Decided to buy a generic Vagisil to treat the itching. Hasn’t itched for a few days but it is still a bit swollen and red. Been using the cream for about a week. Should I stop using the vagisil or should I book an appointment with my dr? I haven’t worn anything but cotton panties and have only washed with water and mild soap.
