Help!!!! Cloth diaper

Question

My cloth diapers have that dreaded "barnyard" smell. I have been researching ways to fix it but there is so much conflicting info. Does anybody have any advice that worked for them?
My wash routine (helpful maybe?)
Prewash with cold water and no detergent 
Hot wash with a full cap of detergent 
Extra cold rinse
I'm not sure if I'm not using enough detergent or the right detergent? I'm using xtra with oxi clean. I looked up the fluff love university and it did say recommended, and then I followed the way the recommended to wash diapers with that detergent but it still smells. What kind of detergent do you guys use and recommend? What are your wash routine? Am I doing something wrong?

Don’t know if this will help, but my routine that I have now keeps the smell down. I usually wash diapers every other day. I use the soak feature on my washer, two hours in hot water with a little bit of detergent. Sometimes I will soak them without detergent and just use some vinegar if I feel like the diapers are getting extra funky. Then wash with hot water and a little detergent ending with an extra rinse in hot water. Then I hang dry them.
I found that using too much detergent and putting them on the dryer (I know you’re not supposed to but I thought maybe it wouldn’t make a difference 🤪) made the smell worse. It was a process of elimination and then I did several washes with vinegar to kind of “strip” them. I’m sure it’s not the official process of stripping but it did enough killing of bacteria that my routine works just fine now. I’ve also heard you can leave them in the sun to help kill any bacteria that’s causing them to smell. I hope that helps, good luck!

Join the Fluff Love & CD Science Facebook page if you haven’t already, you can ask for help to fix the issue and come up with a wash routine. They’ll want to know what model your washer is and what your water hardness level is (you can buy aquarium test kits from Amazon or I found mine at Walmart to check this). I’ve included the questions they’ll ask - it seems like a lot of work, but it’s worth it to get a good wash routine down. 
I know that they’ll recommend using detergent in both washes and extra rinses aren’t recommended. But definitely have an admin on the Fluff Love & CD Science Facebook page walk you through it because they’re way more knowledgeable than I am. Been using a wash routine for 7 months that they helped me figure out and so far so good!
