Drive by baby shower?

Question

How does it work? Do friends and family drop off gifts? And what things can I provided for my guest? Would food or any kind of games be involved? 
Even tho we aren’t due until September, would it be crazy to try to just do a regular baby shower this month before COVID gets worse in the next two months?

Just posing the question...is a baby shower really worth the risk?  Cases are rising because of social gatherings and not social distancing.  I personally wouldn't be comfortable because of the guilt I would have if I got it from my baby shower while pregnant.  I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion and the number of cases vary by location.  What about a virtual shower or waiting until COVID subsides?

I am having a regular shower on Aug 1st. Everyone invited are people I am around all the time anyway.. work people, a few close friends and family. COVID isn’t going anywhere anytime soon so I’m just continuing with life. Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable coming I completely understand. 
I did attend a drive by baby shower a few weeks ago. The parents to be and hosts of the shower sat under a tent in their front yard and people came up with gifts, visited a few mins and then left. They had a cooler full of drinks, cake pops and small favors. It was cute but not very personal.

We just had our baby shower yesterday and did a regular one! Everyone who was there were people we are around on a regular basis anyway. I view it as no need to take away more than what has already been taken away!

We’re doing a drive by sprinkle/2nd birthday celebration for our first little girl! My plan is to pass out little food favors, haven’t decided on what yet but, something like kettle corn or chocolate covered pretzels with a cute little tag. And pink lemonade! We’re doing a diaper raffle where folks bring a pack of diapers and can try to guess when baby will arrive, winner gets a $50 gift card. We’re going to take a Polaroid picture of the folks that visit in their cars and let them write a little note for our 2 year old, put them all in a book for her look back on. She luckily won’t remember this crazy moment in time but, she’ll certainly hear about it so we want her to know people came to celebrate her birthday, even when the world was crazy. 🤗

I plan on having a regular baby shower on August 1st! Masks will be mandatory (if they don’t feel comfortable wearing a mask, we will also be hosting a stream virtually. Masks are extremely important to my husband and I) and I will have a big bottle of hand sanitizer available for everyone. It will be held outside so we can social distance as well!
If the cases do seem to continue rising a whole lot, we will probably move to a drive by/virtual.

If I was doing a drive by shower I would, ask everyone to wear masks still, have someone wearing gloves and a mask take gifts, and have gift bags or whatever spaced out and sprayed down with Lysol for people to take.    That way whoever is collecting gifts isn’t at risk and you aren’t putting those who attend at risk.  Just want to point out the 6 foot rule was based off research before they could study microscopic particles (like those for Covid) so I wouldn’t use that as a basis for wearing masks especially if there’s fans, breezes or car A/C going. Definitely would be cautious if doing something.

My friend had a drive by baby shower a couple of weeks ago. The cars just lined and up and drove up to give her her gifts. She and her mother were sitting under an awning to shade them while they visited with each car & unloaded the gifts. They had little goodie bags made for people to take. Honestly, unless everything is sanitized constantly (goodie bags etc whatever they touch or BEFORE they touch it) this is no different than a regular shower. We will be having a regular shower for our baby girl this week. We are so excited! If people feel uncomfortable with coming, they just sent gifts in the mail and that’s totally okay. We plan to wash hands and not touch our faces...common sense hygiene that should always be practiced lol.   We are so thankful for our friends and family to throw us one! They won’t be allowed at the hospital per the hospital rules, so it will be nice to visit with everyone before she is born!
