Keeping cats out

Question

What are you ladies doing to keep your kitty cats out of baby's bedside sleeper? I love the ones that come right up next to the bed but really worry about my cats thinking it's their new bed. Any recommendations??

I covered mine in aluminum foil a month before my due date. The cats tried to jump and walk on it once with the foil then never again. They also didn’t care about my baby when he arrived, they didn’t want to be anywhere near him.

We used a covered bassinet, but baby ended up hating it anyway. Either way, this air thing has been super helpful for keeping the cat away from our door at night. It is per-safe and just shoots a puff of air at them to keep them from scratching at the door.

When we first started accumulating baby gear, one of my cats (the other could care less) thought everything was for him and would immediately try to sleep in/on it. We waited until we brought our son home from the hospital to set up our bassinet, the Halo glide, so the cat wouldn’t claim it as his. Once it was set up, the cat jumped in it one time and we immediately took him out and laid the baby down in it. The cat had absolutely zero interest in it after that.  Baby has since moved to his crib and before that, the cat would be in the crib all the time, but again, after our son started sleeping in it, the cat hasn’t tried even once to get in it!

We ended up making a no pets in the bedroom rule. We have a cat & dog so in our last house, we kept the door closed. In my current house, it’s a two story and we have a baby gate at the top of the stairs that my cat can’t/doesn’t jump over.

My cats thought all the baby things was for them. But after baby came they was totally uninterested. 
If that's not the case you can place a sheet of aluminium foil in the bed, so when they jump in the bed it makes a lot of sound and they typically hate it and will avoid it after that.
