When did you tell your boss

Question

I’m currently 15 +2 and was gonna tell my boss at our 1:1 today that I was expecting and would probably only be working through end of November, but we ran out of time and he had to run... our next meeting isn’t until in 3 weeks at which point I’ll be 18 weeks... do you think I should wait until then to tell him or just schedule a short ad-hoc meeting before? How far along were you when you told your boss?

I would ask boss for a 5 min private conversation
Especially if youre starting to show like I am and other people at work become suspicious or - already know
I wanted to be respectful and tell the boss first before he found out some other way

I would have waited until 20 weeks if I could have, but with work bringing employees back following Covid I had to tell mine sooner as to make sure I wasn’t required to go to face to face meetings when I could remote in. She’s been great about it and I was super nervous. I told her at 15 weeks and I’m almost 18 weeks now. I had to tell HR as well and submit paperwork so I could work from home on occasions as well.

I’m planning to tell mine on Friday. I am nervous this time around (even though I know I shouldn’t be), but with my first I had a female boss and I had been at my company for 7 years. I’m still with the same company (VA Hospital) but transferred to a new facility/new job last October. I’m one of the only managers of child bearing age and I know everyone will be excited for me but it just feels so much different telling my boss this time around. I think it’s okay if you wait, totally up to you!

I’m a day behind you and my plan is to tell my boss this week. I’m a director at work, so I want to make sure he has plenty of heads up. Also, I’ve been pretty pukey and am worried I’m going to get sick in the middle of a zoom interview. So I don’t think it’s too early to tell him, but I also think you’d be fine if you waited until 18 weeks.

I told mine at 10 weeks. But that was only because I was starting a new job (lost my other due to Covid). I waited until I had the job offer and was in signing my contract that way I knew they couldn’t rescind their offer. I wanted to tell them then because I didn’t want it to look like I was hiding anything. I figured If they didn’t want to work with me due to being pregnant I didn’t want to work with them either 🤷🏼‍♀️

Told my boss at 12 weeks because November/December is our busy season and she needed to request  additional funds for a contractor.

Fortunately for me, our department work from home and will not see each other until later the year. I'm planing on telling my manager when I'm 20weeks. I'm currently 17weeks.
