Wife or mum first?

Question

Which role do you think should come first? Being a mum or being a wife? My husband and I was speaking about this and he seems to think that he should always come first before our children?! 🙄

I think marriage comes first. A good, strong marriage makes for good parenting and a stable home for children. I’ll always put my husband’s and my relationship first

Idk I don’t think either role should come first. I think part of being a good spouse or partner is realizing that the children will always be first priority. Our daughter is BOTH of our first priority. We have fun taking care of her together as a team. I would’ve said my husband should always come first before having a child, but after having one my answer has changed. Neither one of us would ever ask the other to put them before our daughter. It’s a short few years in our lives. I’d like for us to both be able to fully enjoy her together. And that doesn’t mean putting our relationship on the back burner. People who feel like their marriage got put on the back burner while having kids have unrealistic expectations going into becoming a parent to begin with imo.

For important things? Being a mom. It's your responsibility to care for your children. That's literally your job in life. 
However, being a wife should be a top priority as well. Once your children are grown and gone, all you'll have is your husband. You'll want to make sure that you aren't living with a stranger because you spent the last 20 years only nurturing your child and neglecting your spouse and marriage

He should be a father to his children before being a husband to you, and you’re a mother to your children before being a wife to him. It’s as simple as that.

I believe that you shouldn't put one above the other. Family is all about balance. You do things as a unit. When you do for one, you do for all.

I think it depends on the situation. My childs safety and wellbeing would always be number one. But I think a good parental relationship is important. A united front. So I guess the context matters.

But, your children should ALWAYS come first. Your job in life is to love, protect, guide & teach your children to be successful in life. They are helpless without you & need you. 
Your marriage is important, too. But, a husband is a grown man who is capable to do things on their own. You should be working together to parent as a team. Make decisions together.
