Should young children be forced to participate in physically competitive games in school?
In this question, “younger children” are defined as 13 or younger and an example of a “physically competitive game” would be something like dodgeball. A game where there is only one winner, the rest are losers- and to win, one must hurl balls at their classmates.
Should children be forced to engage in this kind of activity? If yes, what do children gain from this kind of competition?
Further questions for discussion: should cooperative games also be provided? Or should games played in school mostly revolve around winning rather than learning cooperation skills?
