Pump to induce?

I’m 38 w and 4 days! Today my doctor said I’m still a little over a 1 and about 50% effaced. So not that soft. She did a membrane sweep about 5 hours ago and I haven’t seen anything but clear discharge so far. Would it be helpful to pump for 10-15 minutes to try to help move myself along?

I've been told it's best to avoid this approach as the possible contractions will actually stress your baby quite badly.

Answer

Nipple stimulation can cause contractions but there’s no guarantee that it will put you into labor. Totally up to you if you want to risk dealing with the contractions but not actually ending up in labor from it.
