How much should I get pumping?

The answer to that is different for everyone. It also depends how many times a day you pump. If you are only pumping, you should essentially be pumping as many times during the day as your baby eats (ex: if they eat 8 times a day, you pump 8 times a day). Essentially you should be pumping every 3-4 hours, including overnight. Pumping takes the place of your baby feeding and each time you pump your body will be signaled to make more.  When I started exclusively pumping at 2 weeks pp I was getting only about 1.5-2 oz total after pumping for 20 mins. Baby girl is a month old now and I am getting 3.5-4 oz in a 20 minute session and I also do one power pump for an hour each day and get between 5-7 oz from that. Not a fantastic supply but I make enough for my baby girl and have started a freezer stash as well. I drink tons of water and body armor drinks, make lactation bites with oats, flax and brewers yeast (all are supposed to help with milk supply). Good luck!

I was pumping every two hrs to start. I was getting about 4oz total each session. I was pumping at least twice in the middle of the night. I would do 17-20 min sessions. I was get around 47ounces a day. I have quite the freezer stash now. Running out of room. I went from around 10 sessions a day slowly to not affect my supply dropped to 6 after he turned 3 months.  I pump now around 25 min a session and get about 42 ounces a day.
