Newborn to grocery store?

We have been pretty good about only going out when absolutely needed. I need to go inside to order a birthday cake and was going to have to take newborn in. I have a car seat cover. Would you risk taking 2 week old inside ? Not sure what to do.

I've done it. Ive needed to get groceries and I hate waiting for my SO to get home then sending him out again. I keep my son in his carseat and covered. I dont touch him or anything until I've washed my hands or sanitized.

Honestly if you absolutely needed to take your newborn with you and you have a car seat cover I wouldn’t worry too much, just keep your baby covered.

Call the grocery store to order the cake and/or do a delivery or curbside pick up if you can.

I've done it,  kept her covered and was quick. Her dr said as long as she's covered it's about as safe as a fabric mask. I am sure to use hand sanitizer before I touch her if I need to, and of course as soon as I get to the car. We get home,  I wash up,  change my clothes,  grab her out of her seat,  wash her hands and change her clothes too.

Your risk at the grocery store is pretty low. I tried to take baby in a stroller and keep him covered but he got cranky so fast, I was only able to spend a couple minutes in the store and couldnt comfort him at all that way.  So now I wear him, he loves it, sleeps the whole time, his face is protected since he’s still so small, and I’d been to the store enough before his birth to feel comfortable with the amount of social distancing and safety measures inside. My husband thinks I’m crazy for not being willing to take baby any and everywhere.

I take baby out. I just cover his car seat/stroller with a blanket. Or have him in a carrier with a hood

I wouldn’t do it.. call and order or see if they can do it online then let them know you have a newborn so you aren’t comfortable going in. They should be able to bring it out to you, like curbside pickup. I’ve done it with a few things because I refuse to risk it and being my baby in anywhere. People have been really understanding and accommodating when I mention I have a newborn.
