I honestly don’t feel like this virus is going away anytime soon. And where I am they are offering distance learning again but they have requirements for it. A parent has to be there with the kid the whole duration in case the kid needs help and the kid has to start when normal school day starts(they are taking attendance by who is logged into computer). And to me it’s stupid af and not giving any working parents an option to allow their kids to do distance learning. My husband and I both work full time and we have no one who can stay with the oldest throughout the day so he can do his work so distance learning unfortunately isn’t an option for us.

It might sound kind of radical but I think college professors experienced with online classes need to educate k-12 teachers on how to have a successful online classes. I think an idea is to have churches volunteer space (plenty of churches have fenced areas or areas that could easily be fenced for children to play) and homeschool parents recruited to help teach. This way, class sizes can be cut down and exposure can be reduced. And children can be supervised and taught by people experienced at teaching and parents can go back to work. I really think the homeschool community is an untapped resource. Surely we could offer financial compensation to incentivize. It would be good to still have parents come assist like some schools do. 
I really don't think the pandemic will be over but this is the best solution I can come up with. Fact of the matter is daycare is horribly expensive and not all households can afford to have a parent stay home and homeschool or distance learn.
