If you got gifts for your significant other for his birthday would you be upset if he didnt get you a gift for yours?

No. I love giving gifts but I could care less if I get them. My bf gets more upset when I tell him I don't want anything.

If he did nothing I might be upset but we don’t always do gifts we usually just go out to eat 🤷🏼‍♀️

No. My husband isn’t a gift giver, that’s just not his thing but I love giving gifts. And I also hate people spending money on me unless it’s something I specifically ask for that way I don’t feel like it’s a waste of money because it’s something I wanted/needed

Gifts aren’t really a part of my “love language,” so to speak. 
My husband and I have been together for far too long for little things like that to bother me. Pretty much since we moved in together when I was 18, I haven’t gotten a real “gift” from him. 
He’ll do nice things like take me to dinner, take me shopping and have me pick out something I want, and things like that. But I don’t remember the last time he gave me a wrapped present.
I’d rather a back massage to a material object. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
I’ve gotten my husband a few gifts over the years, always trying to surprise him because I’ve never really been able to. But if I get him a gift and he doesn’t get me one, it’s not a big deal or something I really notice or care about.

We don’t really get gifts, we more take each other somewhere (restaurant, show, cocktail bar, vacation). Sometimes he finds a gift for me and sometimes I find him one but it’s not really fit for tat

I’d be a little bummed but he’d give me an IOU then. He sometimes builds me furniture as gifts (bookshelf, entertainment stand) and they aren’t done by the celebration day. Or he wants to get me something I have to pick out (like shoes or jacket). If he totally forgot or dismissed it, I’d feel sad but I wouldn’t say anything.

We discuss birthday/anniversary/holidays in advance. Last year we decided no Christmas gifts and to focus on the arrival of our son in January financially. Some years we’ve set say a $300 limit. Talking in advance makes it so someone isn’t left embarrassed or disappointed

Gifts are just material things. If you love him and he loves you and it’s a healthy relationship IMO who cares 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I understand some people feel differently, and if it is that important to you for your birthday to be recognized/gifts to be received then sit down and have a conversation. To be though gifts are just that- a gift. Not an expectation
