Where are my fellow teachers at? How are you feeling?

Idk how I’m feeling. I really feel like I could argue both sides right now. My baby will be four months when I go back to school. I teach second grade and baby will go to daycare... tell me what y’all are thinking!!

I am ready to go back. I want to go back to normal. I miss my students. BUT I don’t think it’s possible to go back safely yet. I’m very anxious about the conditions we are going back to.

I didn’t vote because my answer is both! I was more excited before, until last night when I read the article about the 30 year old who died. But I love my class. I love my job. 
Online learning is absolutely NOT conducive to the class I teach (a job and life skills training program for students with intellectual disabilities). My program is hands on. It has to be. That’s how my students learn. They learn to get better at jobs, and then learn the soft skills for being a good worker, by doing the job. I just simply can’t do these things online.

I’m in Florida so...ya not super excited about going back considering how we are doing. There are a lot of teachers at my school who are older, overweight or unhealthy. It’s dangerous for them. I’m scared for me to bring it back to my 3 month old baby. It’s going to be bananas and chaos trying to keep them apart, Teach with a mask, wash hands of every kid multiple times a day, keep them apart in line...

I’m a bus driver. I’m beyond ready to go back. Children need the socialization, they need to learn, they need to get messy, they need to experiment. I’m so over this stupid covid shit.

I'm just really glad I quit teaching when I had my son. We have 2 kids now and I would not want to have to make this decision.

I want to go back. I’m starting at a new school and really want to physically be in a building with kids and colleagues, but I don’t want to teach with all the crazy guidelines and I am nervous about the exposure for me, my students, my family, their families, etc. 
Also, I have a 3 yr old and 5 month old. We lost our daycare spots because they lowered numbers at daycares and I didn’t want to send them right when they opened. So right now I don’t have childcare. If we are remote. My husband (who works from home) and I can manage the kids and working. Although it will be stressful and not the best for my preschooler. But I also don’t want them in daycare with the guidelines.I don’t want my infant going all day not seeing a smiling face. I don’t want my toddler to be told not to share or to stay away from friends. 
Obviously I am completely torn. One thing I know is I need my district to make a damn decision so I can figure everything out!

Ugh last year i didn’t even feel like a teacher. Taught for August and September, had my baby oct 1, went back Jan 6, left March 13 😭 I’m SO READY!!!!!
