I went in for my first appointment and ultrasound today. I was supposed to be 9w6d. I had some light brown spotting the past few days, but everything I looked up and read said that spotting is normal.

When the doctor started the ultrasound, she moved the probe around a bit, and then stopped. I watched the screen the whole time, excited to see our tiny little babe... except there was no tiny little babe.

The ultrasound showed an empty gestational sac. She checked my Fallopian tubes, and all over, and, much as I’m feeling now, it was just empty.

I’ll be leaving this group and any other due date groups I’ve joined, and we’ll probably try again in a few months or when we have the clear. I’m an anxious person, and have been afraid of something like this happening the whole time... and here we are.
