This is my first pregnancy filing for NYS family care - parental leave. I’m going to take the full 10weeks they offer. And possibly another week or two depending on when baby is actually born.

Can I or should I take disability too? I’m new to all of this but it seems like the amount I’d earn on disability is really small and that it can’t be taken at the same time as the NYS family leave (in terms of collecting money from both programs).

What’s your experience?

Any tips in working with HR to get the maximum money for the 10-12 weeks I’m hoping to take off?
