Hospital or Birth Center??

Question

Hey ladies, so from experience, where do you prefer to have your lil one?? Whats the difference between them?? I had my first in a hospital, this one will be in a  birthing center, idk what to expect differently🤷🏽‍♀️

I absolutely prefer birthing center over hospital any day! I feel like you get a more personal approach to care, you go home faster, and you have so much more freedom.  I'm having this one at home though 💙

Birth center was absolutely amazing. Felt like I was in a hotel having a baby. Lights all low, candles around the big tub. Had a water birth. Doctor stitched me up on the queen sized bed with my husband next to me on bed. We left 5hr after having her and went home to sleep in our own bed. Couldn’t imagine anything better. Nurse came to our house the next day to check on us both. Hospital was entirely different.

I've had 2 hospital births but one was on the delivery suite (the normal hospital birth) and the other was on the hospital birthing centre (basically a birth centre inside the hospital so in case of emergency you are where you need to be within minutes). The delivery suite was pretty awful, smallish room, cramped toilet/shower area, bright lights and lots of noise. The birthing centre on the other hand was really spacious, with a lovely bathroom, dimmed lights and quiet. Delivery suite only had a bed available to use while the birth centre had a bed, birthing couch, pool, ball and the sling thing (can't remember name of it). Only painkiller not allowed on birth centre was an epidural, so still plenty choices but the midwives were all super supportive of natural birth so never even brought it up until I asked about it (ended up not getting any). I did have a bit of an issue with my uterus not contracting so I bled quite a bit but they were completely calm about it and I got it all sorted without having to leave the room. Birth centre also gave me a choice of leaving whenever I felt ready, the delivery suite made me stay overnight (delivery suite birth was at midday and I was in hospital for a further 29 hours after birth, birth centre birth was 3pm and I left after 5 hours).
I would 100% recommend a birth centre based off my experiences, the birth was calmer and I felt more freedom to listen to my body instead of what I was being told. The midwives were also way more supportive during the birth and friendly afterwards. I had a natural water birth and natural third stage also, something I wasn't allowed on delivery suite.

Everything she said above ^ amazing experience. I got an herbal bath and fresh bread right after I gave birth and was at home by 7 am. (Gave birth at 2 am) .
