Does putting a deadbeat on child support give him paternal rights?

I’m in Texas. Today I’m supposed to take my son to get a DNA test to prove my baby daddy is the father since I filed child support on him. Obviously my son is his so once the results come back does he get automatic rights to him?? I’m asking because he’s never even tried to meet his son. So I don’t think he deserves rights until he makes some kind of effort.

Unfortunately, yes he will! I know from experience. My daughter was 3 before I decided to put her sperm donor on CS. When we went to court, he wanted rights to her. I made sure it was modified because she never seen him a day in her life. He had 2 supervised visits, with me present, then he was never interested after that! Now she is 9. He is behind like $20k in child support and he doesn’t see her or even know anything about her. It’s sad tho because he could pop up one day and decide to want to see her and I would have to let him but he would have to start the whole process of supervision over because he never completed it! But I would take him to court before that happened again because he’s unstable and only seen her 2 days out of her 9 years of life!
