epidural high???

i’ve heard stories about how some women will get a “high” off the epidural and it gives them a really bad experience during labor. idk if it’s true for everyone but i’ve heard about it a cpl times and how they said it almost tripped them out....what do you think

I’ve never heard this about epidural. But I have heard it about Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas. An epidural is just a numbing drug so it shouldn’t affect you like that.

I don’t know who told you that but anyone I know did not experience a “high”.

You don't get high from an epidural. They were probably given an anti anxiety drip in their IV, or gas.

You can’t get high from an epidural. However it’s not uncommon for them to give you a narcotic lain medication in your IV when they do the epidural.  You can request they not do this.  Then you’ll just be numb but not high.

I didn’t not experience that at all and don’t know anyone that did.

Definitely not how mine was. It was a huge relief for the time that worked. I was able to get some rest before having to push
