If I got a negative test could there still be a chance of pregnancy?

Cause I bought a test yesterday but I didn’t know if a false negative still means a possibility of pregnancy but I’m not sure if I took it too soon.
My gynecologist said that there’s a possibility of pregnancy but yet she didn’t tell me anything about stopping birth control pills 
Can somebody please tell me when exactly I should take another test again?

A pregnancy test is taken once you miss your period.

You can get negative tests and then get a positive one. If you are pregnant, it takes a little while for the HcG to build up in your system to show a positive. If you’re testing negative after your missed period, you might not be pregnant, but even then... some women don’t get a positive until 10 days after a missed period.
