Paci mamas - when do you plan on weaning?

My daughter just turned 7 months and I read that’s the easiest time to wean, but I’m in a weird way not ready?? She loves it and is just so cute lol. Her pacis are good until  9 months and I was thinking maybe I’ll just wean her then? I don’t know 🥺 makes me feel like I’m losing the last of my tiny baby!

I recommend as quick as possible when they are younger they don’t understand and can’t ask for it. I took my daughters when she was six months when she started to throw out of the cot at night. I thought it would be the hardest thing ever but surprisingly she didn’t seem to bother and it was easier to settle her in different ways because she was younger.

I tried weaning at a year old, but failed because my daughter loved it too much. Haha. We ended up getting her completely off buy 2 weeks before she turned 2. We used the Fridababy pacifier weaning system. It was the only thing that helped weaning her. If you have trouble, I recommend looking into it. It really works!

The longer you wait, the more difficult it'll be.  We tossed it cold turkey when our daughter turned six months.  She was irritated about bit for two days and then it was over.

She’s only allowed it in her crib and I think I’ll just let her have it until she is done with it. Talked to my pediatrician about it and because it is only used to help fall asleep she won’t be sucking on it enough to hurt her incoming teeth. When shes older they stop waking at night so she will really only suck on it for a few minutes.

We stopped letting him have it during the day already. He now only gets it for naps and bed. We plan to stop letting him have it before a year old. Wish us luck!

Our boy is 8 months and I definitely don't plan to wean him yet. He uses it before bed and in the car. I would lose my mind driving with him screaming - especially since we have a 3 hour drive when visiting family. I may be kicking myself later but we'll see 🤷‍♀️

I don’t really have a plan. I wanted him to only have it when sleeping at 12 months but the lockdown made that too difficult for me. He was whining and driving me crazy while I was trying to work so I gave up. I will maybe try again at 15 months. But it’s not something that overly concerns me, my sister had hers until she was 3 and was totally fine.

My son was about 17-18 months.  We primarily used them to keep him from putting stuff and hands in his mouth when we were away from home.  Other than that, just for sleep.  We got rid of them cold turkey.  Took him 3 days to get over it.  It’s easier when they are younger, of course.  But I just couldn’t stand the idea of all the gross stuff getting in his mouth.  Also, helped with teething.

Gonna try at 12 months but she is a terrible sleeper and bottles and paci is what soothes her back to sleep, so if I'm taking bottles 100% at 12 months, I'm gonna need something. 
But I will def have it gone by 24 months.

My 2yo quit bottle at his 1st bday but he LOVED that paci. He only had it for sleeping. He was 15 months and we replaced it with hot wheels. Every time he asked for it, we would say “he went bye bye, but look!! We found a hotwheel”🤣 maybe not the best way but 2 nights and he forgot about it
