Tips before I start Gonal F MD and Menopur?

Hi ladies,
I'm feeling a little nervous about starting Gonal F MD and Menopur next week since it's my first time. Could you tell me of any tips you have for a smoother self injection experience? I have both meds in the fridge.

Not specifically to do with the injection process, but make sure you have a little something in your stomach. I had to do Gonal F in the mornings and evenings. The first morning I did it on an empty stomach and got so nauseous and threw up water. After that I’d eat some crackers immediately before or after and I was fine.

Also first time for me. I am now on day 7 of stims. The ladies here told me it gets easy and it gets! An extra tip: inhale when injecting and exhale when pressing the injection out. A nurse told me to do this and does help in my opinion! Also, my husband is doing my injections. We are doing it before bedtime. I get quite tired afterwards so it helps me to sleep through. I am terrified of needles so my hubby did them all for me. For gonal he would count down from 10 and when he got to 5 he’d inject it and by 1 he was done. And for menopur hed count down from 15 and stick it at 10 and usually by 1 he was done. That one can sting for a the last few seconds it’s in. I would also play music on my phone to help distract me. 
They honestly weren’t too bad! I think it’s just the idea that a non-nurse was doing them that freaked me out.

Go slow. Slow. Slow. I had to take Lupron, 300 of the Gonal and two vials(in just over one cc) of Menopur. My first day with all my shots was on 4th of July. I was at a BBQ. I prepped them all, and my boyfriend gave them all to me at once, on shot after the other. It was brutal. I’m also afraid of needles so never injected myself. I talked to my sister (who’s a nurse and did a successful IVF last year) she said if you inject them too quickly it stretches the tissues and is more painful. 
Long story short... I did the lupron and Gonal. Then prepped the Menopur and waited about 10 minutes before injecting it. When it would start to hurt I would tell him, and he would slow down the injection. Which helped a lot. Overall they were not bad. You can ice the area before hand to help a little.

I started last night with the same protocol! Did your nurse instruct you to combine the meds to take in one injection? It made it easier.

Just take your time with the menopur. I had to mix it through 4 vials, so it took a while, but I watched a video on the menopur website that was super helpful for walking through it. Menopur burns a little, but I didn’t think it was too terrible. Gonal is easy and the pen makes it super seamless. There’s also a video on their website. Good luck! You’ve got this!

So I’m super afraid of needles and I took these! Gonal is super easy and painless. Menopur I think I rememebr I used to inject slowly and I felt nothing but sometimes at the beginning I was nervous and I injected quickly and it was burning a little ! You’ll be fine :) good luck !
