Seriously what do you guys do when your baby wakes up in the middle of the night?

My daughter has always been a great sleeper but the last 2-3 weeks on a regular basis she’s waking up in the middle of the night. She lays there and just cries...it’s almost as if she wakes up because she can’t get comfy and then is tired on top of it and just cries and cries. She works herself up and then calms back down and right when I think she’s settled she works herself back up again. She will do this for over an hour.

We’ve tried ignoring her and see if she will go back to sleep on her own. Tried going into her room and shushing her and rubbing her back but she just immediately stands up and wants out. We’ve tried standing in her room and rocking/swaying but she just points that she wants to go into our bedroom to see whichever parent is not in the room. We’ve tried bringing her into bed with us but she just thinks it’s time to play by jumping on all the pillows.

I feel horrible letting her cry as long as she does but I also don’t know what else I can do to get her to go back to sleep.

Also what would you do...she sleeps with a light baby blanket and some nights when she wakes up like this she puts it over her head and just sits there...for a ridiculous long time. During the day she’s always putting stuff over her head but I don’t know how I feel about leaving her at night with a blanket covering her head.
