Braxton Hicks?

Hi mamas! I never experienced any sort of Braxton Hicks with my first baby. I’m 28 weeks today and since the middle of last week I keep getting these period-like cramps low in my belly. They seem to happen every day - throughout the day and at night. Does this sound like Braxton Hicks or more like premature labor signs? Thanks for your help!

It seems to me like Braxton Hicks really feel different depending on the person.. for me, they don’t feel like period cramps. They just feel like a tightening across the belly and then I always feel like I have to pee really bad while they’re happening haha but I’ve seen others say they feel like period cramps.

Yes my BH started around 28 weeks.

As long as this period cramp feeling isn’t consistent, getting more than 5 in an hour, or pain increases with each one and starts hurting in your back then it most likely is just braxton hicks. I actually started going into preterm labor last week (I was 28 weeks and it was stopped at the hospital) I started out having a sore back, then the period cramps, the pain in my back and stomach started increasing and became 2-3 minutes apart and I had 15 contractions within an hour and this went on for 3 hours and I couldn’t sleep through it so I had to go to the hospital.

I’m a FTM as well! Mine definitely feel like period cramps. They started around 24 weeks for me, but I’ve noticed they’re tied to how active I’ve been that day (if I’m running lots of errands or something I tend to get them) or how hydrated I am. The more liquids I drink the more likely I am to get them. Changing position seems to help a lot. Sit down if you’ve been standing, lay down or stand up if you’ve been sitting, etc.

Yes! This is my 4th pregnancy and with each pregnancy I notice them more and more!
