Could I be pregnant?

Hello!

I want to get some advice coz I’m quite confused.

I went to the gynecologist on the 8th of July for a check up (we wanted to see if there was something wrong as to why we have not been successful in getting pregnant yet), I was due to start my period on the 14th of July. I am 8 days late today. Could it be possible that I was pregnant and it was too early for the Dr to see anything or could it just be a missed period?

My husband and I have been TTC for 9 months now and I am extremely scared for disappointment again so I don’t want to just take a pregnancy tests only to have my heart broken.
