Do you find it appropriate to take pictures of the deceased at a funeral?

I always find it odd that my in laws take pictures of the person that has passed away in their casket. Like anyone that has passed away they have a picture of them in their casket.

The only experience I’ve had of this in my family was when my mom had a stillborn little boy. She had pictures of him in his casket at his funeral. But I feel like that’s different?
