MD to Midwife?

Ka

This is my second pregnancy (9weeks) and I’m considering making the switch from my doctor to a midwife (still in a hospital setting). My first pregnancy was without complications. At 39 weeks my water broke, active labor started 6 hours later and 5 hours after that my son was born. However, I’ve been a little disappointed in my doctor this time, nothing major but maybe I’m just more experienced as a second time mom so things just seem a bit off with her? 🤷🏼‍♀️ So at my first appointment for this baby, I asked my doctor if it’s common for baby #2 to come early like my son did. She immediately said well we can talk about an induction this time around. To me, my body seemed to do what it needed to do naturally so I was confused by this response and why would would intervene this time if it wasn’t medically necessary. I responded to her and she just kept saying, well we would only induce you if you were a good candidate.

So here are my questions, does anyone have any insight on why she would mention induction when I went into labor at 39 weeks on my own with #1?

Secondly, has anyone switched from an MD to a midwife and how was your experience? Or if you’ve used a midwife what did you like/dislike about it?

Please note, I have no judgement against people who want/need to be induced. Everyone is different, I just thought it was an interesting response.

Thanks!
