Eat before or after workout

I use to workout all the time when I was Training for Karate but I haven’t in a while and it was almost all’s never on an empty stomach due to the Fact that it was later in the day/night. Should I eat before or after I workout? With school about to start again I’m probably going to have to workout really early in the morning like 7am and I don’t eat breakfast so I’m not sure 😂
