Low estrogen but high progesterone after ovulation?

Question

Does any one know why I would have low estrogen level but high progesterone level? It has been almost two weeks after ovulation. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Should I be concerned that my estrogen is low?

Your estrogen levels only really need to be high right before your LH surge and will start rising again if pregnancy occurs, it’s not normally elevated during the luteal phase. Progesterone needs to be elevated during the luteal phase to support a cushy uterine lining if pregnancy occurs, but will be halted by a secondary LH surge to bring on your period if not.
