I’m 39 weeks and want to get labor started. If I pump will that waste all the colostrum?

You can pump while pregnant! Your breasts aren’t just a storage for milk, it’s a supply & demand situation. Your body will continue to make colostrum until your hormones tell your body that it’s time to make mature milk. Colostrum is super thick and sticky, though, so it doesn’t move through pump parts easily; if you’re interested in actually collecting the colostrum, maybe try hand expressing instead! If you’re not trying to save any, go for it and pump!

I pumped from like week 36 on. It never started my labor but I had a stash of colostrum

You can store the colostrum in the freezer. The nipple stimulation from pumping is a good natural labor inducer but will only work if your body is actually ready. :)
