When to start a “nap schedule”?

Question

At what age are mamas starting a nap schedule? Right now my LO sleeps on demand when he’s tired, but everyday varies. When do you start making a schedule with the same nap times everyday?

I've done my best to be on a schedule from day one. Obviously when they're first born its hard to follow but pretty much since he's been a month old we've had a good schedule down. Sometimes it varies a little just based in his feedings throughout the day but it's pretty consistent. Wakes up around 6am with me, he eats and then we play and then he takes a short nap while i get dressed.  Then we go to daycare at 9am. I work until 1pm. He usually sleeps a little at daycare but its not much. I pick him up and he naps usually as soon as we get home. That's his long nap of the day, about 2-3 hours. Then throughout the evening he plays and takes a little power nap for about half an hour then we do bedtime routine between 8-9pm. And he sleeps through the night. He’s been doing this for a few weeks now and he's 11 weeks old now.

With my first I think around 4 months but she was pretty good at sleeping at night so I followed her cues. My 2nd is also an awesome sleeper and she just sleeps when she wants to during the day BUT I have noticed a pattern that she set herself. I let her sleep when she wants to but ensure she doesn’t fall asleep too close to bed. She’s 9 weeks old

So my 12 week old has a “loose” nap schedule. Creating healthy sleep habits is a big goal of mine so we started around 8 weeks. In all honesty it really didn’t start clicking until around 10 weeks. “Bedtime” and wake time are pretty strictly consistent most days and then her feeding schedule is strict, right at every 3-3 1/2 hours throughout the day. Then we nap around her feeding schedule. Feed, play/awake time for an hour to and hour and half then nap...start the process over again. It seems to be working really well! She sleeps for 10-12 hours at night with a dream feed at 10pm and another feeding around 1-2am.

We already have sort of a schedule. It’s based on his demands combined with aiming him not being awake for longer than 1.5 hours at a time. 
He’s 12 weeks but we have it for some time now, not sure when I began to be more aware of his awake/sleep time but I think around 9 weeks or something.

My little guy does the same as someone else commented. The EASY method it’s called. Eat, Activity, Sleep and You time. So naps for about 15 minutes to half an hour before his next feeding. My Pediatrician said to work on a routine right now not necessarily a schedule. Longer more scheduled naps can start around 4 or 5 months.

My little one is 2 months old and at his appt the dr told me to start trying to work on scheduled nap and bedtime routine.
