Pros and Cons of not knowing gender ?

Tell me, I’m curious why some people held out or there reasoning for it if you’d like to share :) it

So I originally really wanted to know.  It was our first baby who we waited two years for.  No surprise I wanted to know what I’d be having.  
But, with me trying to be nice and let my husband be as involved as he could, I let him make the decision that we would wait to find out because “it would be such a big surprise”.  
I’m so glad we decided to wait until birth because it was the most exciting moment for us.  It was so emotional.  All the nurses and doctors were taking their guesses. It was fun. We told the doc that my husband wanted to announce the gender so when they laid him on me, my husband yelled “it’s a boy!” And started crying.  I will never forget that moment.  
We will most likely do the same for our next babies.  💚

I wanted to know the gender in hopes that it would make it more real to me 😅
It didn't really 😂 But we only had to discuss girl names 😅

It’s also a bonus to have gender neutral stuff (which is not hard to come by at all) because then you can reuse everything.  Plus, not everything you own is pink or blue. 💁🏻‍♀️

This is our first and we aren’t finding out. You’re going to love your baby either way and our thought process is there are so few good surprises in life. Plan for the details of the nursery after but the baby isn’t going to remember how it looks !

It’s the most incredible feeling to have your spouse get to tell you the gender when the baby is born! All the nurses and drs were taking guesses and said that surprise deliveries are their favorites! It wasn’t that big of a deal to do some gender neutral things and then I was able to get some more gender appropriate things once my son was actually here. If we decide to have another—we for sure will not find out the gender again!

We want it to be a surprise. We are a same sex couple, so it’s not like the pregnancy itself could be. It’s nice not to know. We will be happy either way.

I’m not even pregnant yet but this has been on my mind! With my first, we both absolutely wanted to know and we found out. I’m already thinking about next time around, and I think it would be so special to wait, but my husband isn’t on board. The only con in not finding out (especially after the first one where there wouldn’t be a baby shower) is either not knowing how to decorate the nursery/being forced to choose gender neutral themes & decor.

We held out and it was incredible finding out the gender when he was born. The nurses/doctors took a vote on what they thought we were having beforehand haha. We originally were going to find out until my FIL made the comment that waiting would give us the biggest surprise of our lives and he was right. Currently pregnant with baby #2 and we are going about it the same way. ❤

We didn't find out because we didn't want people gendering our child before even being born. We knew it would happen after birth, but figured it would lessen the amount of pink or blue we'd receive.
